once again you have me thinking what the hell is going on with the chapters and the story behind the titles….

    well done.

      Patricia,
That is the version that I have on my iPod. It is in heavy rotation. The other song that I really like is by the Clarke sisters. It is called Blessed and Highly Favored. I think it is appropriate to their story, if not the characters specifically.

So quick question… I noticed the chapters are sequential 111,112, etc. What about the side stories and the one shots, will we be seeing any more of them? And more specifically, what about Mack? I was glad to see him mentioned in RESET, and hope he gets custody of his boys. I think if they tell a judge how their mom allowed them to be abused by her latest scum-sucking, drug dealing boyfriend, and the fact (I strongly suspect) that she is using drugs, custody should be ruled in his favor. ANd if she gets sent to prison that should definitely cement it. Hopefully if she is convicted and sentenced it will give her time to get her stuff together.

🙂 Yes, there will be more side Stories. The Thanksgiving set is all side stories and I’m working on a few One-Shots.

As far as Mack and Yala, it’s a complicated case. I know how I plan to resolve it, but one of the biggest things to note is that even AFTER she’s sentenced, a mother in jail (a parent in jail, really) doesn’t lose custody in NY State. You have to be incarcerated for two years before you lose parental rights! NY State is one of THE hardest states in which to win a relocation case. So Yala really does have him by the short and curlies here unless he can get her to agree and one thing I’ve learned in all my research is that mothers in jail/women in jail rarely receive visitors. So Yala agreeing to allow Mack to move her children means she probably won’t receive any visitors at all. This can be traumatic to both the kids and the parents, just as it was traumatic to Mack to lose access to his sons when he was locked up.

The reason why I’m watching this one is personal. My cousin (who I patterned Jorge on) is currently in a fight to retain visitation with his daughters. His ex wants to move to Florida but he’s been a Dad like Mack, always there, always involved in their lives. So the case is taking its toll because they both want to be in their childrens’ lives and he refuses to simply allow her to move away and he gets a few weeks (like summer vacation and Thanksgiving) every year, especially since their eldest daughter is in soccer camps in the summer. So he might not get any time with his children if she moves unless he flies constantly to visit and he’s still working on Wall Street. What little time he had was spent with his daughters. It’s a sucky situation with no winners and five losers.

Here’s some information on NY Relocation Guidelines: http://www.international-divorce.com/Relocation-of-Children-Under-New-York-Law

Essentially, there’s a laundry list of things for a judge to consider and the fact that Yala might be incarcerated is a big reason for a judge to disallow Mack’s taking the boys and moving. He would see their deep ties to Brooklyn, their residence with their mom, and their Mom’s incarceration as factors to disallow a relocation.

          Sux, doesn’t it?

You’re starting the guessing game with a bang!! “The Power to Hurt Me” could be from a variety of POV’s; I’m curious to know who we will know better. And is the hurt physical or emotional or financial or …? This was an exciting way to start my birthday – thanks as always for sharing!

May you, and all that you call yours, be blessed with what you need,
    Tark

It’s Tuesday! I wait with cup of coffee in hand for the next chapter hopefully (fingers crossed) that will be posted today. Is it a sign of addiction to be refreshing my email every ten minutes looking for the post notification?

We will still be here during this break. Don’t OD on the sun and wine too much.

I might be able to even get the yardwork done. CitW or pruning bushes hmmmm?

    • Linda AlvRez

Ditto what Molly said, and my spring plantings thank you for the forced break from my addiction to your writing. We will be here, and you so deserve to spend your time on yourself after more than a year our lives with your wonderful fixing of the Plum world. I thank you, for all the many ways you have entertained, instructed, and inspired me with CITW, and the connected series. Oh yes, we will be here.

I am very excited to see the updated titles and maybe Xmas in July. Is that your strategy of staying cool this summer? Writing about a winter holiday. Thank you. I hope you are better and not in much pain. My son complained of lung pains and weakness long after the pneumonia was over and he was cleared to go back to soccer. The Dr told him exercise was necessary to get back but not to overdo it or he would do more harm. I would tell you hot chicken soup, but if it is hot outside soup may be the last thing you want. Just do what your Drs. say and throw us a signal about your well being. There were PMs to among reviewers trying to find out if you were ok and we only know each other through our reviews on your stories. You have developed quite a loyal following that is concerned about you.

  15. Sandy

Just a short example of how real this story has become. I have an hour and a half drive to work each day so I have a lot of thinking time. I spent a good ten minutes this am thinking of a way for Steph to find/create a position in Rangeman that would be non-management, or demeaning but would allow her to keep benefits. It suddenly dawned on me that there is really no Steph or Rangeman. They are fictional characters. What a relief on one hand and a wake up call that just maybe I need to see Miriam. Oh wait, she is also fictional. Now what do I do? LOL

  16. Linda

I’m loving every single chapter, really word that you write. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us. What will we do when this story reaches its end?

  17. Tanya

Hey girlfriend – you doing OK? Haven’t heard from you in a long while and I’ve been thinking of you and hoping you are all right.

You know I love comments (and reviews!)
